What Is a Private Nagasaki History Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were a group visiting from Europe and appeared to be enjoying the tour. The guests were aware of the historical relationship between the Netherlands and Nagasaki, had researched it thoroughly in advance, and asked quite detailed questions. The guests also showed interest in the situation of the atomic bombing damage and the circumstances of the survivors. At Dejima, there were questions about Siebold and his daughter (Japan's first female doctor). Since the guests did not know that there is a Siebold Memorial Museum in Nagasaki, I explained how to get there. They mentioned that they would visit it on their own after the tour ended. As they wished to visit Huis Ten Bosch the following day, I informed them that there is a highway bus service to Huis Ten Bosch and showed them the boarding location.
