Tour Itinerary in Detail
The tour started at 8:00 at @ Conrad Osaka and ended at 17:00. The day ran to 9 hours from start to finish. It included lunch @ Cafe Shizuku at 12:00.
Over the course of the day the route took in Nankai Namba Station at 9:02, Danjo Garan at 11:15, Kongobuji Temple at 12:40, Shojoshin-in Goma Fire Ritual Viewing at 13:10, Okunoin at 13:50 and Koyasan Station at 15:58.

What Is a Private Guided Day Tour of Koyasan (Mount Koya) Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were a group from North America. As Typhoon No. 6 had made landfall in the southern part of Wakayama Prefecture, I was concerned about the train service, but there were no particular delays and we were able to proceed with the tour smoothly.
At the Danjo Garan complex and Okunoin, one of the guests enthusiastically captured the natural scenery in photos and videos. After lunch, I asked about their wishes, and they expressed a desire to observe the goma fire ritual at Shojoshin-in Temple. We walked from Kongobuji Temple to Shojoshin-in and were able to watch the goma ritual at just the right timing. Both of them wrote goma-gi prayer sticks and placed them into the fire, so as their guide I took photos and gave them to the guests. (Photography is permitted there.) It was an experience that is hard to have elsewhere, and they were very pleased.

Naka was an amazing tour guide! He was incredibly flexible and was very knowledgeable. He also ensured we had ample time to stop to rest, hydrate, find bathrooms, and get food (for which he recommended multiple options). He also went out of his way to help my father figure out an issue he was having with his Suica card, which significantly improved our entire overall trip!
