What Is a Private Day Tour to Mount Fuji and Shiraito Falls Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were a group of friends visiting from Oceania, and they were very intellectually curious. At the Mount Fuji World Heritage Centre in particular, they took their time exploring the cultural, artistic, and historical explanations of Mount Fuji, touching the interactive panels as they viewed the displays. They mentioned wanting to see Shiraito Falls, so beforehand we took a taxi from Fujinomiya Station to extend our trip to Shiraito. There were also many bus tour guests from the same cruise ship, but since this was a private tour, I could flexibly adjust to the pace of guests who preferred to walk a little more slowly. Along the way, at a souvenir shop, they bought Shine Muscat grapes and ate them on the spot, and they looked delicious. The guests listened attentively to the explanation of the falls, and since going up and down the stairs to get close to the falls would have been difficult, we viewed the entire scene from a distance before heading back. We returned by train to Shimizu, where they thoroughly enjoyed the much-anticipated seafood at the riverside market, and then we returned to the port. As we parted, they told me it had been a very thought-provoking tour.

A notable stop on the tour was Shiraito Falls. Shiraito Falls is a wide, elegant waterfall located near Mount Fuji, recognized as part of the Fujisan World Heritage Site. Fed by spring water filtering through the volcanic layers of Mount Fuji, the falls stretch roughly 150 meters wide, with countless thin streams cascading down like delicate white threads, which is the origin of its name meaning "white threads." The site has long been considered sacred and is associated with the cultural and spiritual traditions surrounding Mount Fuji.

I have been teaching high school students for 40 years as an English teacher and guiding for 10years including a volunteer guide .Now I am a national government licensed guide. I have been dreaming to introduce Japanese culture including tasty Japanese food and history , our society and also some problems in it. It is a great moment of joy and excitement to be with you from all over the world. I love traveling around Japan and abroad myself. I visited East Germany ,too that does not exist any more. I am looking forward to guiding you in and around Shizuoka!
