Title: What Is a Private Miyajima and Hiroshima Tour Like on a Rainy Day? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were visiting from North America. Shortly after the tour began it started to rain, and we were caught in heavy rain throughout the tour.

Partly to take shelter from the rain, we entered Itsukushima Shrine, and along the way one of the guests mentioned that a necklace had been lost. They said "300…" and laughed, so at first I thought they had bought a 300-yen necklace in Japan. After exiting, we explained the situation at the shrine entrance and were allowed back in to look, but we could not find it. When I asked in more detail, it turned out to be a Gucci necklace. On the off chance, I asked a Shinto priest who happened to be passing by about a lost necklace, and they said there might be something matching that description. I hurried to the window beside the main hall and was asked what kind of necklace it was. Since I had just taken a photo before entering the shrine, I showed it to them, and it was indeed the necklace that had been turned in as a lost item. The guests were very pleased and said it had cost 300 dollars and was purchased overseas, so I was truly glad it was found.

On the way back, we walked through the back streets in heavy rain, but there was more traffic than usual, which made walking difficult. In Hiroshima, there had recently been a collision between a traveler and a streetcar, so I informed them of this and urged caution.

Before boarding the Miyajima ferry, one of the guests said, "When I tried to close and fasten the umbrella borrowed from the hotel, the handle came off." I called the hotel but could not get through, so when we returned to the hotel I informed the front desk. There was no charge for compensation, and they kindly asked, "Were you injured?" We returned the umbrella and the tour ended.

Since recommendations for dinner spots had come up during the tour, we walked together to places such as Minamoa, Ekie, and Fukuya at Ale-Ale A Building before returning to the hotel.

Hello! My name is Miki. I was born and brought up in Hiroshima. I enjoy traveling around Inland Sea areas and I enjoy chatting with guests from overseas!

In Hiroshima, you can see many beautiful rivers and old bridges. Lately, I often take photos of Hiroshima city including bridges and rivers. There are not many tall buildings here, but I know some places you can visit and see the view for free. By the atomic bomb dome, there is a building called Orizuru(paper crane) Tower. You need to pay to go up to the top floor but you can see the view of Hiroshima city and the Miyajima Island(Itsukushima).

Many tourists from overseas as well as Japan want to visit Miyajima Island. You can see a beautiful shrine from Heian Period which is around 12th century and a huge Torii gate in front of the shrine and it is in the water. There are several ways to visit the island from Hiroshima city. If you are going to stay near JR Hiroshima Station, we will visit the island by JR train and JR ferry. If you are staying in the city area, we can go there by streetcar and ferry, or there is a high-speed boat from Peace Memorial Park pier directly to the island and vise versa.
