What's a Private Kyoto Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Nishiki Market, Gion, and Nijo Castle

The guests were a group visiting from North America (most of them older travelers living in North America). The tour was originally scheduled to start at 10:00, but I could not meet the guests at 10:00, so we contacted each other via a messaging app and were finally able to meet 30 minutes later. Kyoto Station is very large, so I had specified the JR Central Ticket Gate, sent photos of the platform and the ticket gate, and contacted them again a few days in advance just to be sure, but they exited from a different ticket gate and we could not meet on time. Since I had confirmed in advance that the guests were using a messaging app, we stayed in touch through it and started the tour 30 minutes late.

I took them to Nishiki Market, Pontocho, Gion (Tatsumi Bridge and Hanamikoji), and Nijo Castle. Some of the guests said they enjoyed Nishiki Market the most, while others said they liked Gion (Tatsumi Bridge) best. Tatsumi Bridge was more popular than Hanamikoji. Some of the guests said Nijo Castle was their favorite. In particular, some of the guests commented that they would have liked more time at Nishiki Market.

At Kyoto Station, I guided them to the platform for trains heading toward Osaka, let them know the departure times of the Special Rapid Service train, and said goodbye.

My name is (Mr.)Michiharu Aioi and I worked at Electronic Manufacturing Company (Panasonic) for more than 40 years in charge of overseas sales.
I learned a lot in these 40 years and now I would like to contribute to the promotion of mutual understanding with foreign countries being involved in tourism busines utilizing my long experience in my previous company. I will do my best to make each trip very fruitful for each foreign visitor.
As for my language ability, in addition to English, I can speak Spanish which I used in my job and I can communicate with Chinese people with intermediate level. Finally It is my great pleasure if my activity could work in the mutual understang with foreign visitors. Thanks a Lot !
