- Travel by JR to Inari
- AM 10:15-11:15 Visit Fushimi Inari
- Travel by taxi to Sanjo Keihan, via Gion Hanamikoji, Shinbashi, Shirakawa
- Travel by subway to Nijojo-mae
- PM 12:15- 13:45 Visit Nijo Castle
- Travel by subway to Kyoto Station
- PM 14:15- 15:30 Lunch at izakaya
- Travel by JR to Osaka Station
- PM 16:15 Tour ends in front of hotel
What Can You See on a Private Kyoto Day Tour? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Gion, and Nijo Castle
The guests were visitors from North America on a trip to Japan. The desired destinations had not been decided until the day of the tour, but before departure they settled on Fushimi Inari, the Gion area, Nijo Castle, and To-ji Temple.
Because of the intense summer heat and some mobility concerns within the group, we started the tour with the understanding that we would remain flexible and adapt to the situation as we went along.
At Fushimi Inari, we visited the Senbon Torii and the bamboo grove, but as the guests seemed a little tired, we decided to see the Gion area from inside a taxi. After visiting Nijo Castle, the guests wished to take a relaxed lunch, so we had lunch at an izakaya at Kyoto Station.
After enjoying some beer and sake and cooling off, the guests decided to skip the visit to To-ji Temple and head back to Osaka. The tour ended a little earlier than planned, but I believe the guests enjoyed themselves.

Yoshi is an exceptional guide where he took us to the best market stalls at the fish market where every food we indulged in (including the sea snails and eel liver) were superb. The walking tour of the tea houses (Geisha district) and knowledge of the history of both the precinct and greater Japan was first class. Yoshi is also a kind and caring person and made conversation very easy, including when we wanted to dig into the country’s cultural values and lifestyle

YOSHI met us at our hotel and was very friendly and helpful. We walked around the city and he took us to view several different spots including samurai living quarters, geisha houses, the beautiful garden built by Maeda san. Yoshi was knowledgeable about the entire city and it’s treasured history. He inspired me to do some reading on Maeda san, a leader who played a huge part in the development of the city. Yoshi was an excellent guide, and even provided a LOT of recommendations and useful information for after our tour. We would definitely recommend YOSHI san! Note: you will need a IC card to board some of the city buses.

We had a fab tour with Yoshi our guide, we visited the tea district then the gardens and castle which were my favourite. Yoshi was very informative , explaining the history and mechanisms of the castle was built and the water system. He was also very helpful with explaining the bus service.
