What Does a Private Day Trip from Osaka to Kyoto Look Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were a group visiting from North America. It was their first time in Japan, but they had studied the country well in advance, and during their stay in Tokyo they had also received information about shrines and temples from a guide. We departed from a hotel in the Yodoyabashi area of Osaka, took the Keihan train to Fushimi Inari, Kiyomizu-dera, and Gion, had lunch in Gion, then visited Nijo Castle before returning the guests to their hotel in Osaka. Unfortunately, the tour took place in the rain, and both Fushimi Inari and Kiyomizu-dera were extremely crowded with large tour groups, so by the time we reached Nijo Castle at the end, the guests all appeared quite tired. Some of the guests said that Fushimi Inari was their favorite. One of the guests commented that it was hard to pick a favorite among all the places. There were many questions from the guests throughout the tour.
