The itinerary covered pick you up in front of Tenpozan port at 9:00, Osakako Sta. at 9:30, Kyoto Sta. at 10:30, Nijojo Castle at 11:15, (leave) at 12:00, Arashiyama Bamboo Forest at 12:50, Tenryuji Temple at 13:30, (leave) at 15:06, Fushimi Inari Taisha at 15:50, (leave) at 16:40, Kyoto Sta. at 17:15 and Osakako Sta. at 18:15.
Travel between the sites was by public transport: Osaka Port to Bentencho by subway (240JPY); Bentencho to Kyoto by train (820JPY); Nijojo-mae to Uzumasa Tenjingawa by subway (260JPY); Randen Tenjingawa to Arashiyama] by train (250JPY); Arashiyama to Inari by train (240JPY); Inari to Bentencho by train (990JPY); Bentencho to Osaka Port by subway (240JPY). The private tour, arranged through [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/), began with picking up the guests and heading to Osaka-ko subway station to buy tickets. There was a very long line of foreign cruise ship passengers, and it took nearly 20 minutes to purchase tickets, which caused us to miss the intended rapid train at Osaka Station.
Since the guests said they absolutely had to return by 19:00, I judged that we would need to skip one destination and discussed this with the guests. In the end, we decided to skip Kinkaku-ji (the Golden Pavilion).
The guests asked whether we could go to Gion instead of Kinkaku-ji, but I explained that there would not be enough time to visit Gion after lunch, and they understood.
For lunch, the guests wanted to eat sushi, and they enjoyed tuna, rolled sushi, and other dishes.
The guests had wanted to visit Fushimi Inari Taisha from the very beginning, and they were deeply moved by the Senbon Torii (thousands of torii gates).

Great overview of the highlights of Kyoto with an excellent guide. Just beware that the
different sites may be located at different ends of the city so you will spend time on trains.
Also, in the summer a parasol is probably a good idea as it can get hot.

We booked a full day walking tour excursion from Osaka to Kyoto from our cruise ship. Hideo Yoshida met us promptly and escorted us all day from Osaka to visit 4 of Kyotos most famous sites.
He proved to be a true Japanese gentleman, very polite , very knowledgeable and knew the train system well. We must have changed at least 10 trains and it would have been impossible to navigate this without him. Also we had our most delicious sushi and sashimi lunch in Japan in a restaurant he recommended.
Thank you Hideo for providing us a wonderful insight in Kyotos history.

We had a very good private tour with Hide Yoshi – he made a good plan for us and whisked us around Kyoto to the key sites very efficiently. He had good knowledge about the places we visited and had prepared materials and photos to show us. He really helped us to get the maximum out of our time in Kyoto and is a really nice person. Also took us for an excellent lunch! Highly recommended.
