  • 9:20 Meet at hotel (Hilton Osaka) → Take Hankyu train to Kyoto Kawaramachi Station → Take Keihan train to Fushimi Inari Station → 10:40 Fushimi Inari → 12:30 Nishiki Market (lunch) → 13:30 Take Kyoto City Subway → 14:00 Kyoto Imperial Palace → 15:30 Nijo Castle → 17:00 From Hankyu Kawaramachi Station to Osaka Umeda Station → 17:55 Drop off near Hilton Osaka and tour ends

What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour from Osaka Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from North America. In the morning, they took the JR line to head toward their hotel in Osaka, but another car near the front seemed to have detected an abnormal noise, and the train stopped for nearly 25 minutes along the way. I contacted the guests by email. As a result, the 9:00 meeting time was delayed, and our departure time was pushed back as well. Both guests were energetic and walked at a brisk pace, but as the temperature was high, they gradually became tired. After Fushimi Inari, we had planned to continue to the Kyoto Imperial Palace, but I arranged for them to have lunch at Nishiki Market first. The guests both loved gardens and took many photos. They found it interesting that the way visitors are handled at the Kyoto Imperial Palace and Nijo Castle had some things in common. It was hot enough that constant hydration was necessary, and they used the restrooms frequently. I saw them off at their hotel in Osaka, ending the tour. The photo was taken at the Kyoto Imperial Palace.

I was born and grew up in Kyoto and now live near Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. I used to be a schoolteacher of English and welcome a lot of students from foreign countries. I really enjoyed showing them around Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Himeji, and Hiroshima. I have been a professional tour guide for about 8 years. I always try to let my guests learn Japanese traditional and modern culture. Since I was born in Kyoto, I know a lot about its culture and people. I myself enjoyed several sports, such as soccer, judo, and marathon when I was young. I’m much interested in baseball and sumo.
