Travel between the sites was by public transport: Shinkobe to Kyoto by train (1,110JPY); Kinkakuji-michi by bus (230JPY); Kitaoji to Kyoto by subway (260JPY); Kyoto to Inari by train (150JPY); Inari to Shinkobe by train (1,300JPY). Across 5 sections the fare came to 3,050JPY per person.
Title: What's a Private Kyoto Day Tour by Bullet Train Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were a group from Europe. To allow more sightseeing time in Kyoto, I suggested using the bullet train and purchased the tickets in advance. We were scheduled to board the 8:43 Nozomi from Shin-Kobe, but a 17-minute delay meant that our planned 9:10 arrival in Kyoto became 9:30. Although the guests were worried about the delay, our lunch in Arashiyama went smoothly because the sushi restaurant was not crowded, which allowed us to adjust our schedule. The guests enjoyed shopping in Arashiyama, so I made sure to secure shopping time at Kinkaku-ji and Fushimi Inari as well. They purchased folding fans, dolls, and handkerchiefs, and also bought a "daruma" and other items that I had introduced at Tenryu-ji. Between Kinkaku-ji and Fushimi Inari we used public transportation, but to move efficiently, all other transfers were made by taxi.

Great overview of the highlights of Kyoto with an excellent guide. Just beware that the
different sites may be located at different ends of the city so you will spend time on trains.
Also, in the summer a parasol is probably a good idea as it can get hot.

We booked a full day walking tour excursion from Osaka to Kyoto from our cruise ship. Hideo Yoshida met us promptly and escorted us all day from Osaka to visit 4 of Kyotos most famous sites.
He proved to be a true Japanese gentleman, very polite , very knowledgeable and knew the train system well. We must have changed at least 10 trains and it would have been impossible to navigate this without him. Also we had our most delicious sushi and sashimi lunch in Japan in a restaurant he recommended.
Thank you Hideo for providing us a wonderful insight in Kyotos history.

We had a very good private tour with Hide Yoshi – he made a good plan for us and whisked us around Kyoto to the key sites very efficiently. He had good knowledge about the places we visited and had prepared materials and photos to show us. He really helped us to get the maximum out of our time in Kyoto and is a really nice person. Also took us for an excellent lunch! Highly recommended.
