Title: What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like During the Gion Festival? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were a group visiting from North America. Prior to the tour, the guests had requested to avoid crowded places, so I had planned the tour to exclude locations expected to be congested due to today's Gion Festival. However, after 18:00 the day before, an email came in stating that after all, they wished to see the Yamaboko Junko parade in Gion. Moreover, while the tour was originally scheduled to start at 12:30, a request also came in for a hotel pickup at the time the parade could be seen (9:00 AM). Although my tour the previous day had also been in the afternoon and I had returned home late, and this was an extremely last-minute request, I rearranged the schedule so that they could see the Yamaboko Junko. The Yamaboko Junko was viewed on an extremely hot day approaching 39°C. After visiting Nishiki Market, I took them on a 20-minute climb up to the Monkey Park, and then guided them to the Togetsukyo Bridge in Arashiyama, Kameyama Park, and the bamboo grove, where the tour ended. The guests said they did not need meal time or a coffee break, so it was a continuous 6-hour tour on a scorching 39°C day. Among the guests, one said the Monkey Park was the best, and another said the bamboo grove was the best.
