What Does a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Cover? A Licensed Guide's Report
Today I guided a group of friends visiting from Oceania. They were traveling to many places including Tokyo and Kyoto, and yesterday they had walked part of the Nakasendo from Nagoya in the rain. Today we went first to Kiyomizu-dera, which was expected to be very crowded, and by arriving early we avoided the worst of the crowds, though Sannenzaka was quite busy. After that we strolled through the Gion district and had lunch at a soba restaurant. We then visited Nijo Castle, which was fairly empty, so we were able to take our time and look around comfortably. When we reached Sanjusangen-do, it was time for the tour to end, so I gave a brief explanation before finishing. I believe the guests enjoyed themselves.

We spent half a day with Kaeko Tanigawa taking us to Daitoku-ji and Kinkaku-ji temples and Nijo castle in Kyoto. She is very nice, customer-oriented and knowledgeable about Japanese culture and history.

Kaeko Tanigawa was fantastic at helping us create a tour that worked for our family with two young children. It was a very hot day, but the air conditioned van was perfect. We loved making ramen together, feeding monkeys, and seeing a few top sites of Kyoto.

Kaeko was absolutely amazing from start to finish, and my husband and I had the best time with her during our honeymoon in Kyoto in April! She reached out well before our trip to get to know our interests and carefully planned an itinerary that was perfectly tailored to us—even helping us choose the perfect lunch spot.
