- 8:00 Hotel Meet(@Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu)
- 8:00-8:50 Travel (City Bus; Gojozaka→Kawaramachi Shijo, Hankyu Train; Kyoto Kawaramachi→Arashiyama)
- 8:50-10:30 Arashiyama stroll & visit (Togetsukyo Bridge, Tenryu-ji Garden, Bamboo Grove, Okochi Sanso Villa)
- 10:30-11:00 Travel (Keifuku Train; Arashiyama→Ryoan-ji)
- 11:00-11:50 Ryoan-ji visit
- 11:50-12:10 Travel (City Bus; Ryoan-ji-mae→Waratenjin-mae)
- 12:10-13:00 Lunch (Washoku Joy Kinkaku-ji branch)
- 13:10-14:00 Kinkaku-ji visit
- 14:00 Tour ends After the tour, we escorted you to Shijo Kawaramachi where you can go shopping and said goodbye there
Title: What's a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Arashiyama, Ryoan-ji, and Kinkaku-ji
The guests were visiting Japan for the first time, traveling from North America. I took them to Arashiyama, Ryoan-ji, and Kinkaku-ji. Because the schedule in Arashiyama was quite packed, they may not have had enough time to fully enjoy the Sogenchi Garden and the Okochi Sanso Villa. At the final stop, Kinkaku-ji, the rain became heavy and it was very crowded, so the impression may not have been as favorable. One of the guests especially liked Ryoan-ji, while another was particularly fond of the bamboo grove. After the tour, I took them to Kawaramachi Shijo, where they could do some shopping, and we said our goodbyes there.

Our Kyoto guided tour (Aioi Michiharu) was a great way to see some of the city’s most famous sights. The itinerary was well organized, starting with a convenient hotel pickup before visiting Fushimi Inari Taisha. Walking through the thousands of red torii gates was a memorable experience, and our guide shared interesting background about the shrine that added helpful context.
We then explored the Kiyomizu area, including Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Yasaka Pagoda, and Yasaka Koshindo Temple. The route offered a nice mix of historic landmarks, traditional streets, and scenic viewpoints. There was enough time at each stop to take photos and enjoy the surroundings without feeling rushed.
What really made this tour special was our guide’s knowledge, friendliness, and enthusiasm. He provided interesting cultural insights, recommended local foods and hidden photo spots, and made sure everyone in the group was comfortable throughout the day.

Michi our guide was excellent! Great communication before the tour and laid out an entire day for us. Was very accommodating and understood when the heat got to us and needed to take a break. He was very knowledgeable and gave us great pieces of information about the beautiful city of Kyoto. Would highly recommend the tour and Michi!!

Michi was an excellent tour guide! He was very knowledgeable about the history of all the sites we visited, was able to answer all of core questions, and knew where to find cold water when we were all thirsty! We really enjoyed our whole 4 hour tour.
