What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like for a Family Group? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were a group visiting from North America. The booking had been cancelled early in the morning the previous day due to a payment issue, but it was later reinstated. The guests were completely unaware that it had been cancelled, but fortunately I received a message via a messaging app on the previous afternoon, which allowed the booking to be revived. I was able to re-book the restaurant that had once been cancelled, and we were able to start the tour as originally planned.

However, during the tour, an unplanned request came up to visit Ryoanji Temple. The schedule was already tight, and since the guests had a tea ceremony experience reserved in Gion from 16:00, I asked them to agree to switch to a taxi partway through, added the visit to Ryoanji, and kept things moving so we would be in time for the tea ceremony experience.

I took them to Kiyomizu-dera Temple (including Sannenzaka, Ninenzaka, the Yasaka Pagoda, and Koshin-do), Nijo Castle, Kinkaku-ji, and Ryoanji Temple.

The guests said that Kinkaku-ji and Japanese architectural features (such as cliff-style construction and decorative gable pendants) left a strong impression on them.
