Title: What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Kiyomizu-dera, Nanzen-ji, and Kinkaku-ji
The guests were a group visiting from North America. They had originally planned to travel to Vietnam, but while in Seoul they were informed that their entire schedule in Vietnam had been canceled due to a typhoon, so they decided to come to Japan instead. This was their ninth day in Japan, and they had already traveled from Tokyo to Hakone to Kyoto. One of the guests had a DSLR camera and took many photographs.
Fushimi Inari was relatively uncrowded, which made it easy to guide. They experienced both the Omokaru-ishi (lightness-heaviness stone) and the Neagari-no-matsu (raised-root pine).
We took a taxi from Fushimi Inari to Kiyomizu-dera, entering from the Seikan-ji area behind the temple. At the Otowa Waterfall, the guests drank the water. On the approach to Kiyomizu-dera, they purchased a box of nama-yatsuhashi.
At Nanzen-ji, rather than the Hojo Garden, I guided them through Tenju-an, one of the sub-temples. The autumn foliage was at its peak, and they were very delighted. After strolling through Kinkaku-ji, at the guests' request, we parted ways near the entrance of Kinkaku-ji.

Kyoto morning tour with Kaz
Kaz (Kazuhiro) guided my family in historic Kyoto. He was flexible when we decided to modify our itinerary on the morning due to rain forecast the next day. Kaz’s English was great which meant he kept my teenage sons engaged with stories about shoguns and samurai battles. We visited the Fushimi Inari Shrine, and the Golden and Silver pavilions. The highlight of the tour with Kaz was being shown around beautiful gardens to see cherry blossoms still blooming and views of the city. We highly recommend going on a tour with him.

Yoshida was excellent, he had a great knowledge of of the historical aspects of the sites we visit, provided us great guidance on appropriate behavior at each site. He was energetic throughout the tour. More important he was more of a companion which made the experience even more enjoyable.

Kaz was an excellent tour guide! He spent 6 hours showing us around Kyoto including Fushimi Inari Shrine, Nijo Castle, Kinkaku-Ji Temple and the bamboo forest. He was very knowledgeable, spoke English well (lived in the US for 3 years), and took lots of photos for us. We are so glad we booked this tour.
