What Is a Private Kyoto Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Arashiyama, Nijo Castle, and Nishiki Market

This was an interpreter-guide tour for the group in Kyoto. In our email discussion beforehand, the guests had expressed a wish to visit the Monkey Park, but the day before the tour, one of the guests contacted me to say their ankle was not in good condition. I explained that the Monkey Park requires climbing a hill, and that the Okochi Sanso Garden also involves going up and down slopes to view the garden. In response, the guests decided to skip the Monkey Park but still wished to visit the Okochi Sanso Garden, so I took them there. One of the guests had purchased a support brace the previous day and was wearing it on their foot. I guided them slowly and carefully to minimize the strain on the foot as much as possible. One of the guests was interested in the dyed fabrics of the Kimono Forest at Arashiyama Station on the Randen line, and also showed interest in Japanese gardens. Instead of the Monkey Park, I took them to Nijo Castle. Because they stopped at several shops in the Teramachi shopping arcade to do some shopping, it was already past 14:30 when we arrived at Nishiki Market. I assisted with ordering when the guests had a meal at Nishiki Market, and the tour concluded there. One of the guests preferred to decline photographs for privacy reasons, but another guest agreed to be photographed, so the photo shows only that guest.
