Tour Itinerary
- 8:30 Hotel Meet (@Higashiyama Kyoto Tokyu)
- 8:30-9:05 Travel (Subway; Higashiyama → Nijojo-mae)
- 9:05-10:20 Nijo Castle visit
- 10:34-10:55 Travel (City Bus; Nijojo-mae → Kinkakuji-michi)
- 11:05-11:50 Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion) visit
- 12:00-13:00 Lunch (@CoCo Hanana, near Kinkaku-ji)
- 13:17-13:37 Travel (City Bus; Waratenjin-mae → Imadegawa)
- 13:50-14:30 Kyoto Imperial Palace visit
- 14:30 Tour ended after the Kyoto Imperial Palace visit. After the tour, I escorted them to Sanjo Keihan and said goodbye there.
What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Nijo Castle, Kinkaku-ji, and Kyoto Imperial Palace
The guests were visitors from Europe. It was their first time in Japan and in Kyoto.
I took the guests to Nijo Castle, Kinkaku-ji (the Golden Pavilion), and the Kyoto Imperial Palace. The morning was perfect weather for sightseeing. It became hot in the afternoon, but the temperature was more comfortable compared to the heat of August. Since we entered Nijo Castle right after it opened, it was not very crowded. Kinkaku-ji was already busy, but the Kyoto Imperial Palace was relatively quiet. The guests said the wall paintings at Nijo Castle left the strongest impression on them.
During the tour, I also introduced a restaurant, recommended another place to visit (Sanjusangendo), and gave an explanation of Fushimi Inari Taisha, which the guests planned to visit the following day.

Kyoto temple tour
Our Kyoto guided tour (Aioi Michiharu) was a great way to see some of the city’s most famous sights. The itinerary was well organized, starting with a convenient hotel pickup before visiting Fushimi Inari Taisha. Walking through the thousands of red torii gates was a memorable experience, and our guide shared interesting background about the shrine that added helpful context.
We then explored the Kiyomizu area, including Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Yasaka Pagoda, and Yasaka Koshindo Temple. The route offered a nice mix of historic landmarks, traditional streets, and scenic viewpoints. There was enough time at each stop to take photos and enjoy the surroundings without feeling rushed.
What really made this tour special was our guide’s knowledge, friendliness, and enthusiasm. He provided interesting cultural insights, recommended local foods and hidden photo spots, and made sure everyone in the group was comfortable throughout the day.

Michi our guide was excellent! Great communication before the tour and laid out an entire day for us. Was very accommodating and understood when the heat got to us and needed to take a break. He was very knowledgeable and gave us great pieces of information about the beautiful city of Kyoto. Would highly recommend the tour and Michi!!

Michi was an excellent tour guide! He was very knowledgeable about the history of all the sites we visited, was able to answer all of core questions, and knew where to find cold water when we were all thirsty! We really enjoyed our whole 4 hour tour.
