What Is a Private Kyoto Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Kiyomizu, and Pontocho

The guests were from Europe. Both were retired. As the sunlight was extremely strong, we talked about needing something for shade, and one brought a hat while the other brought a parasol. Perhaps due to the heat, the crowds everywhere felt quite thin. There was a request to visit Nishiki Market, but they did not want to eat there — they simply wanted to walk through and see what it was like — so we postponed lunch and took the Keihan train to Fushimi Inari. At Fushimi Inari the sunlight was also intense, and many tourists were resting in the shade. While being careful to stay hydrated and walking down Yasaka-dori after Kiyomizu, we happened to pass by Chef Sasaki. I had thought of showing them the Twin Dragons ceiling painting at Kennin-ji, but they said they had seen enough temples, so we walked to Tatsumi Bridge. As we still had time to spare, we finished by heading north through Pontocho and I took them to a standing bar in the underground shopping arcade at Oike, where they enjoyed a sake tasting before we wrapped up.

I’m Ryoichi Kazuma and my nickname is “Kazz”. I live in Kyotanabe city next to Kyoto city. I want guests to enjoy Kyoto by seeing and experiencing not only from outside but also from inside. I offer various information from daily matters to traditional cultures. Most destinations in Kyoto are located on the eastern side or the western side. As I want to guide guests to as many destinations as possible, I make an efficient itinerary and recommend a taxi use to save time. Additionally, I take pictures at various spots and finally share the link to my storage. By doing so, guests can download their favorite pictures from my storage. Please enjoy Kyoto night and day!
