Title: What's a Private Day Tour of Kyoto Like? Fushimi Inari, Arashiyama, and Kinkaku-ji — A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests came to Japan from North America. They were making the most of their post-retirement time on a six-week trip, having traveled through several other Asian countries before arriving in Japan. Although they were traveling at a leisurely stage of life, they were remarkably robust and walked with ease. Right away, they even ran to catch the train bound for Inari at Kyoto Station. Both listened calmly to my explanations, which made them very easy to guide. One of the guests was enthusiastic and took a great many photos. Their only purchase was some mineral water. In Arashiyama, we stopped for a short break at a bakery shop. Beyond the sites we visited, we touched on many topics of conversation, with many questions about Japanese culture and customs. We were blessed with fine weather, though it grew almost hot in the afternoon. With the arrival of spring, the number of Japanese tourists was also increasing. Kinkaku-ji in the afternoon was quite crowded, and I could imagine it becoming considerably busier once school trip students join in April. The photo was taken at the bamboo grove in Arashiyama.

I was born and grew up in Kyoto and now live near Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. I used to be a schoolteacher of English and welcome a lot of students from foreign countries.
