- 7:30 Hotel Meet (Hotel Kyoto)
- 7:30-8:00 Transfer (Keihan Train; Keihan Sanjo → Fushimi Inari)
- 8:00-8:50 Fushimi Inari Visit
- 8:50-10:00 Transfer (Keihan Train; Fushimi Inari → Gion-Shijo, Hankyu Train; Kawaramachi-Shijo → Arashiyama)
- 10:00-11:00 Arashiyama Monkey Park
- 11:00-11:50 Arashiyama Visit (Togetsukyo Bridge, Tenryu-ji Garden, Bamboo Grove)
- 11:50-12:40 Transfer (Keifuku Train; Arashiyama → Kitano-Hakubaicho, City Bus; Kitano-Hakubaicho → Kinkaku-ji Michi
- 12:40-13:30 Kinkaku-ji Visit
- ※After visiting Kinkaku-ji, the tour ends
- After the tour, we transferred by city bus to near the hotel and said goodbye at the hotel
Title: What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like in the Rain? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Arashiyama, and Kinkaku-ji
The guests were a group visiting from North America. They had arrived in Kyoto the previous evening via Tokyo, and this was their first trip to both Japan and Kyoto. During the tour, I took them to Fushimi Inari, the Monkey Park, Arashiyama (the Togetsukyo Bridge, the Tenryu-ji garden, and the bamboo grove), and finally Kinkaku-ji.
As they were still suffering from jet lag, it turned out to be quite a demanding tour, and the guests seemed rather tired. Since the itinerary included a climb up to the Monkey Park in the rain, it may have been particularly tough.
Some of the guests especially enjoyed Fushimi Inari, while others were fond of the Monkey Park, though with the comment that it would have been better without the climb. Even though the itinerary had been requested by the guests themselves, I felt a little sorry that it was somewhat too demanding.

Our Kyoto guided tour (Aioi Michiharu) was a great way to see some of the city’s most famous sights. The itinerary was well organized, starting with a convenient hotel pickup before visiting Fushimi Inari Taisha. Walking through the thousands of red torii gates was a memorable experience, and our guide shared interesting background about the shrine that added helpful context.
We then explored the Kiyomizu area, including Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Yasaka Pagoda, and Yasaka Koshindo Temple. The route offered a nice mix of historic landmarks, traditional streets, and scenic viewpoints. There was enough time at each stop to take photos and enjoy the surroundings without feeling rushed.
What really made this tour special was our guide’s knowledge, friendliness, and enthusiasm. He provided interesting cultural insights, recommended local foods and hidden photo spots, and made sure everyone in the group was comfortable throughout the day.

Michi our guide was excellent! Great communication before the tour and laid out an entire day for us. Was very accommodating and understood when the heat got to us and needed to take a break. He was very knowledgeable and gave us great pieces of information about the beautiful city of Kyoto. Would highly recommend the tour and Michi!!

Michi was an excellent tour guide! He was very knowledgeable about the history of all the sites we visited, was able to answer all of core questions, and knew where to find cold water when we were all thirsty! We really enjoyed our whole 4 hour tour.
