Tour Itinerary
- 10:00 Hotel Meet(Hotel Nikko Princess Kyoto)
- 10:10-10:40 Travel (City Bus; Karasuma Gojo → Gojozaka)
- 10:40-12:00 Visit Kiyomizu-dera Temple (including Yasaka Pagoda and Koshin-do)
- 12:10-13:00 Lunch (Chibo; Gion)
- 13:00-13:40 Travel (Keihan Line; Gion-Shijo → Keihan-Sanjo, Tozai Line; Sanjo-Keihan → Nijojo-mae)
- 13:40-14:40 Visit Nijo Castle
- 14:50-15:10 Travel (City Bus; Nijojo-mae → Kinkakuji-michi)
- 15:20-16:00 Visit Kinkaku-ji Temple
- ※16:00 Tour ends.
- After the tour ended, we accompanied them to Karasuma-Shijo (near the hotel) and said goodbye
Title: What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like in Winter? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were a group visiting from Oceania. They seemed to be acquaintances of someone I had guided on a previous tour. Although it was a cold time of year in January, the weather was excellent, and it was warm enough to break a sweat while walking, making it a perfect day for the tour. I took the group to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Nijo Castle, and Kinkaku-ji Temple, and each member of the group enjoyed different places. Some of the guests liked Kiyomizu-dera Temple best, while others preferred Kinkaku-ji Temple. For lunch, the guests enjoyed okonomiyaki. Some of the group also had sake, and although it was their first time trying okonomiyaki, they seemed to enjoy it very much. The various sites were crowded and getting around on packed buses may have been a little tiring for them.

Kyoto temple tour
Our Kyoto guided tour (Aioi Michiharu) was a great way to see some of the city’s most famous sights. The itinerary was well organized, starting with a convenient hotel pickup before visiting Fushimi Inari Taisha. Walking through the thousands of red torii gates was a memorable experience, and our guide shared interesting background about the shrine that added helpful context.
We then explored the Kiyomizu area, including Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Yasaka Pagoda, and Yasaka Koshindo Temple. The route offered a nice mix of historic landmarks, traditional streets, and scenic viewpoints. There was enough time at each stop to take photos and enjoy the surroundings without feeling rushed.
What really made this tour special was our guide’s knowledge, friendliness, and enthusiasm. He provided interesting cultural insights, recommended local foods and hidden photo spots, and made sure everyone in the group was comfortable throughout the day.

Michi our guide was excellent! Great communication before the tour and laid out an entire day for us. Was very accommodating and understood when the heat got to us and needed to take a break. He was very knowledgeable and gave us great pieces of information about the beautiful city of Kyoto. Would highly recommend the tour and Michi!!

Michi was an excellent tour guide! He was very knowledgeable about the history of all the sites we visited, was able to answer all of core questions, and knew where to find cold water when we were all thirsty! We really enjoyed our whole 4 hour tour.
