What Does a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour of Fushimi Inari, Arashiyama, and Autumn Foliage Look Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were a group visiting from Oceania. Today was their final day in Kyoto and in Japan, as they were scheduled to depart from Tokyo's Narita Airport the following day. Everyone was cheerful, friendly, and easygoing, which made the tour a pleasure.

Fushimi Inari Taisha was not very crowded. However, there was a long line of school trip students at the Omokaru-ishi stones, so the guests were unable to try them. Instead, I guided them to the Neagari-no-Matsu pine, and they enjoyed crawling under its roots.

The Arashiyama Bamboo Grove was also not too crowded and easy to stroll through. At Iwatayama Monkey Park, the guests were delighted to take photos of the Japanese macaques against a backdrop of autumn foliage. After exploring the Monkey Park, we had a little time left, so I guided them to Hogon-in Temple, a famous spot for autumn foliage. Although some of the leaves had already withered, there were plenty of trees at their peak, and everyone enjoyed capturing the autumn colors in their own way. Afterward, I had planned to see the guests back to their hotel, but at their request we parted ways in front of the main gate of Tenryu-ji Temple.
