What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report from Japan Guide Agency
The guests were visiting from North America, and this was their first time in Japan and in Kyoto. Their itinerary took them from Tokyo through Hakone to Kyoto, and from the next day they planned to continue to Osaka, Nara, and Hiroshima. In addition to Spanish, they spoke beautiful, fluent English. They were interested in Japanese history and listened patiently to my explanations. On this [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) private one-day tour of Kyoto, we first visited the Kyoto Imperial Palace and Nijo Castle. As a result, I ended up explaining in detail the political history from the past to the present—mainly the roles of the emperor and the shogun, the modern imperial family, and the structure of Japan's current political system—as they asked. At Kiyomizu-dera Temple, the guests enjoyed the wonderful views. Today we were also able to talk about various topics that are normally considered taboo, such as immigration matters in North America, and I learned a great deal about how they perceive such things.

Our guide in Kyoto was Kazu. By the end of the day, we felt like we had made a new friend.
Kazu helped us arrange the best day with our short time in Kyoto. He brought us to some “hidden gems” and gave us thorough explanations on history and culture.

Our tour guide Kazu was very knowledgeable in terms of the history and explaining many of
the wonderful ancient sites around Kyoto. Definitely a must! Otherwise, I think it would be
difficult to tourists to understand on their own.
