- 9:10-11:00 Nijo Castle sightseeing
- 11:34-11:44 Nijo → Saga-Arashiyama
- Tenryu-ji Temple & Bamboo Grove Path stroll
- 13:10-13:50 Tenryu Ramen
- 14:00-14:20 Togetsukyo Bridge & Kimono Forest stroll
- 14:31-14:45 Saga-Arashiyama → Umekoji-Kyotonishi 200 yen JR
- 15:00-16:20 Railway Museum admission 1,500 yen
- 16:00 Disband @ inside Umekoji Park
What Is a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Nijo Castle, Arashiyama, and the Railway Museum
I guided a group visiting from Oceania around Kyoto. At first they were unsure about which sites to visit, but in the end they seemed very satisfied, which was a relief. At Nijo Castle they not only enjoyed the historic architecture but also happened to catch a monkey performance show, which delighted them. In Arashiyama we strolled through the Bamboo Grove Path and Tenryu-ji Temple, and they also took in the scenery of the Togetsukyo Bridge. At the Railway Museum, the guests looked at the exhibits with great enthusiasm, and they were very pleased with the juggling show at Umekoji Park as well.
They were a wonderful group who smiled throughout the entire day. At the end we took photos together, and they treated me as if I were one of the group, making it a heartwarming day. I am truly grateful for this encounter.

Andy(Atsushi) was great and communicated with us beforehand about our itinerary. He was flexible with changes we requested. Andy was very informative during the tour. He also was willing to take our family’s pictures. We were able to stop and check out shops as we pleased along the way. He also accommodated lunch requests(as our daughter has food allergies).
One thing I wish we realized was that there is quite a bit of walking. We were fine but for people who are perhaps older or with young children you may want to consider taking a cab between different sites.

Andy Murao was an amazing and wonderful tour guide. He reached out to us with some ideas for our private tour. He worked with us as we made the tour perfectly suited to our needs. He met us on time. He navigated the crowds and the sites perfectly. He was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot. He even put together a nice photo collection of photos he emailed us after. Highly recommend.
