Title: What Is a Private Kyoto Sightseeing Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Tofukuji, and Nijo Castle

The guest is an interpreter guide based in Tokyo. On this occasion, the guest came from Tokyo to Kyoto to scout locations in preparation for guiding upcoming visitors around Kyoto. We met at 7:00 in front of the torii gate at Fushimi Inari and began the tour. Everything was conducted in Japanese, and since explanations in English were not needed, it had the atmosphere of a training session on Kyoto's history conducted entirely in Japanese. After Fushimi Inari, we went to Tofukuji. The guest had never visited either Fushimi Inari or Tofukuji before, which is why these two were chosen. Tofukuji is popular during the autumn foliage season, and I explained that at peak times the crowds are so enormous that it becomes difficult to move around. Many questions were asked. Since there was time, I also guided them to Nijo Castle. At Nijo Castle, I focused on basic information and interesting stories. The guest seemed to understand my approach and remarked, "So you don't need to explain everything." Wanting to return to Tokyo as early as possible, I guided them to Kyoto Station and finished a little early. The photo was taken at the Karamon Gate of Nijo Castle.

I was born and grew up in Kyoto and now live near Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. I used to be a schoolteacher of English and welcome a lot of students from foreign countries. I really enjoyed showing them around Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Himeji, and Hiroshima. I have been a professional tour guide for about 8 years. I always try to let my guests learn Japanese traditional and modern culture. Since I was born in Kyoto, I know a lot about its culture and people. I myself enjoyed several sports, such as soccer, judo, and marathon when I was young. I’m much interested in baseball and sumo. My motto as a tour guide is to let my guests learn about our tradition and culture precisely and really enjoy themselves. I strongly hope you will enjoy the tour in Japan with me.
