- (Travel by train to Hankyu Katsura Station, then take a taxi and get off in front of the Sagano Torokko Arashiyama Station)

- 10:00-10:20 Break at a cafe at Keifuku Arashiyama Station
- 10:50-11:20 Nijo Castle
- 11:35-11:50 Introduce a matcha sweets shop in Gion

- 13:30-14:10 Fushimi Inari
- 14:10-14:30 Since the guests are heading toward Daitokuji, the guide also rides along in the taxi to provide support. The guide gets off partway, and the tour ends.

From there the group visited Hotel SOWAKA at 8:30, Yasaka Shrine & Gion Walk at 8:30, Arashiyama Bamboo Grove Path at 9:30, Break at a cafe at Keifuku Arashiyama Station at 10:00, Nijo Castle at 10:50, Introduce a matcha sweets shop in Gion at 11:35 and Fushimi Inari at 13:30.
Travel between the sites was by public transport: Kyoto Kawaramachi to Katsura by train (200JPY); Arashiyama to Randen Tenjingawa by train (250JPY); Uzumasa Tenjingawa to Nijojo-mae by subway (260JPY); Gion-Shijo to Fushimi Inari by train (220JPY). Across 4 sections the fare came to 930JPY per person.

Body: [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led a private one-day tour of Kyoto for guests visiting from North America. The guests had requested the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove and Fushimi Inari, so I planned an itinerary of Hotel → Yasaka Shrine and a Gion walk → Arashiyama Bamboo Grove → Nijo Castle → lunch → Fushimi Inari → Sanjusangendo → Hotel. However, since the guests took a break at a café, browsed matcha sweet shops in Gion, and enjoyed a leisurely lunch, we omitted Sanjusangendo and visited three main sites. Although the number of sightseeing spots was reduced, the guests seemed to fully enjoy the beauty and charm of each place. The sukiyaki set meal at lunch was a great favorite, and it was finished completely, right down to the udon at the end, with even a second helping of rice. Along the way, I heard a great deal about the guests' work. As the guests worked in the medical field, I was able to hear expert perspectives on coronavirus vaccines and prescription medications. Finally, since the guests had reserved a tea ceremony experience near Daitokuji Temple, I shared a taxi from Fushimi Inari and helped support the conversation with the driver.

Masaki was our guide through Kyoto the day after we arrived. It was a wonderful experience, learning both about the culture and the hidden gems. He shared the details of each temple that he took us to, as well as took us through streets that showed the different styles of the Japanese culture the best part was that he was very communicative prior to and after our tour. He was so on top of everything that he made reservations at a specific restaurant during our tour, based on our interests, so that we do not waste time. It was an area that we would not be able to find on our own, obviously. He also changed some of the areas we were going to tour, based on our sons interest. That was actually the best part for our son, as he was able to experience archery.
The best part is that Masaki is so kind and considerate that there was a typhoon coming through Tokyo during our stay. He knew we were going to be traveling there after Kyoto and he made sure to update us with the train schedules and the storm details. We could not have asked for a better guide through Kyoto. I wish we could utilize his expertise in Tokyo…

Absolutely perfect for getting the most out of a single day in Kyoto. Masaki-san is an excellent tour guide. He communicated well by WhatsApp to set up our plans so we could see everything we wanted. He kindly adjusted our start time after our travel plans were delayed. He figured out the best way to adjust our tour when we spent too long admiring a few places! And he took us to the most amazing local type place for lunch. Overall it was beyond our expectations and we truly are grateful and thankful to Masaki-San for our truly perfect day!

Masaki was s wonderful and patient guide for our first visit to Kyoto. He explained the significance of the castle and temples we visited, pointing out parts he felt were most interesting. He also went out of his way to help us figure out our bullet train tickets for our return.

and customized it for us. We had a good mix of temples and sights and shopping. Kyoto has
