Tour Itinerary in Detail
Meeting at MIMARU Shijo WEST at 7:30, the group explored Kyoto until the tour ended at 13:30. The day ran to 6 hours from start to finish. It included lunch at 11:50.
The itinerary covered Fushimi Inari at 8:10, Kiyomizu-dera Temple at 9:45, Sannenzaka & Ninenzaka at 11:00, Gion at 11:30 and Nishiki Market at 13:00.
Travel between the sites was by public transport: Shijo (Kyoto Municipal) to Kyoto by subway (220JPY); Kyoto to Inari by train (150JPY). Across 2 sections the fare came to 370JPY per person.
What's a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like During Gion Matsuri? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were a group visiting from Europe. It was the day of the Gion Matsuri front festival and their hotel was near Shijo, so we viewed some of the festival floats before heading to Fushimi Inari. As it was 37 degrees, I lent out a portable fan and we proceeded with the tour while taking breaks as needed. One of the guests interpreted my English explanations into their own language for the rest of the group. At Shijo Kawaramachi, I guided them to a Snoopy shop that they enjoyed. They also enjoyed shopping at Ninenzaka and Nishiki Market.

Kuni-san was an excellent guide and very friendly and knowledgable. Kuni-san greatly assisted with meeting one of our family member medical needs on the day and was very helpful in supporting us and changing the itinerary and assisting our family member.
I would HIGHLY recommend Kuni-san as a guide and this tour defintely met our needs as a group of 4.
