Tour Itinerary in Detail
Meeting at Kyoto Station meet at 8:25, the group explored Kyoto until the tour ended at 14:40. The day ran to 6 hours and 15 minutes from start to finish. It included lunch at 11:25.
The itinerary covered Fushimi Inari at 8:40, Kinkaku-ji at 10:15, Ryoan-ji at 12:30 and Higashiyama area at 13:50.

What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were visiting Japan for the first time from Oceania. They were a kind group, and I was grateful that they arrived early for the morning meeting. Compared with peak season, there are fewer international visitors at this time of year. Instead, there has been a noticeable increase in school excursion students. For lunch, the guests requested Western-style food rather than Japanese cuisine, so we went to a Western restaurant near Kinkaku-ji. Although it was a slightly early lunch, we were able to be seated smoothly. Right after that the restaurant began to fill up and became full, so we were lucky. I was glad they enjoyed the lunch and said it was delicious. The guests were surprised to learn that the dragon painting on the sliding doors at Ryoan-ji was created by a former prime minister. I guided them from the Higashiyama area to Yasaka Shrine, where the tour concluded. We used a taxi to travel from Kinkaku-ji to Ryoan-ji. The photo was taken at Ryoan-ji.

I was born and grew up in Kyoto and now live near Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. I used to be a schoolteacher of English and welcome a lot of students from foreign countries. I really enjoyed showing them around Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Himeji, and Hiroshima. I have been a professional tour guide for about 8 years. I always try to let my guests learn Japanese traditional and modern culture. Since I was born in Kyoto, I know a lot about its culture and people. I myself enjoyed several sports, such as soccer, judo, and marathon when I was young. I’m much interested in baseball and sumo. Kazua Sumi is a very accomplished guide.He has deep knowledge about the history and culture of Japan. He is flexible and accommodates changes if you so desire. He is also very empathetic. I had a sprained back and he ensured we took elevators everywhere. You will be lucky if he is assigned as your guide .

My friend and I had a great experience on the tour. We travelled all around Kyoto with our guide Kazuo Sumi. He is a sweet older gentleman who had a great depth of knowledge about each place we went to. We told him places we wanted to go and he made the itinerary for us.
