Tour Itinerary in Detail
This private tour of Kyoto began at 8:30, when the guide met the guests at front of the guardian dogs at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and finished at 14:30. The day ran to 6 hours from start to finish. It included lunch at Tonkatsu Katsurai Kinkaku-ji Branch at 12:30.
From there the group visited Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine at 8:55, Arashiyama Monkey Park at 10:20, Arashiyama Bamboo Grove Walk at 11:40 and Kinkaku-ji Temple at 13:15.
What's a Private Day Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kiyomizu-dera, Fushimi Inari, and Arashiyama
Today's guests were a group visiting from North America. Due to time constraints, they visited Kiyomizu-dera on their own before we met, and the tour started from there. First, they enjoyed the Senbon Torii at Fushimi Inari Taisha, and then we headed to the Arashiyama Monkey Park. They were captivated by the newborn baby monkeys, the carp in the pond, and feeding the monkeys, and had a wonderful time. On the way back, we happened to spot some deer as well. After that, we strolled through the bamboo grove from the Okochi Sanso side. Near Kinkaku-ji, they enjoyed the tonkatsu they had been hoping to try. Finally, we visited Kinkaku-ji, and because of the extreme heat, there were very few people, so we were able to take many great photos. I believe they enjoyed themselves.

We spent half a day with Kaeko Tanigawa taking us to Daitoku-ji and Kinkaku-ji temples and Nijo castle in Kyoto. She is very nice, customer-oriented and knowledgeable about Japanese culture and history.

Kaeko Tanigawa was fantastic at helping us create a tour that worked for our family with two young children. It was a very hot day, but the air conditioned van was perfect. We loved making ramen together, feeding monkeys, and seeing a few top sites of Kyoto.

Kyoto Private Tour
Kaeko was absolutely amazing from start to finish, and my husband and I had the best time with her during our honeymoon in Kyoto in April! She reached out well before our trip to get to know our interests and carefully planned an itinerary that was perfectly tailored to us—even helping us choose the perfect lunch spot.
