What Is a Full-Day Private Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were a group of seven visiting Japan for the first time from North America. It was a very hot day with temperatures exceeding 32 degrees, and by the afternoon one of the guests grew tired and rested alone at the main gate of Nanzen-ji Temple. Although they behaved cheerfully and energetically, they were clearly tired. I discussed whether we might skip Eikan-do and head to Fushimi Inari to end the tour a little earlier. In the end we decided to visit, but since entering the buildings would require walking up quite a few stairs, I guided them slowly through the garden instead. I had also considered visiting the final stop, Fushimi Inari, a bit more quickly, but since Fushimi Inari was a place the group very much wanted to see, everyone suddenly regained their energy, and I guided them as originally planned. They asked many questions, and the area around the exit of Fushimi Inari was quite congested, so in the end we arrived at the Hotel at 5:00 as scheduled and finished the tour.
