Tour Itinerary in Detail
This private tour of Kyoto began at 10:00, when the guide met the guests at Hotel Kyoto, and finished at 15:10. The day ran to 5 hours and 10 minutes from start to finish. It included lunch at Fushimi Torisei at 13:00.
From there the group visited Kinkaku-ji Temple at 10:30, Nijo Castle at 11:40 and Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine at 14:00.
What's a Private Day Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kinkaku-ji, Nijo Castle, and Fushimi Inari
Today I guided a group visiting from Oceania. The weather was not too hot, and since it was just after a holiday period there were relatively few tourists, so we were able to see everything very smoothly. Even at Kinkaku-ji, where it is usually difficult to take photos, we managed to get good pictures. Nijo Castle was also very uncrowded, allowing us to explore at a relaxed pace. We had lunch at a restaurant in Fushimi, where the grilled chicken skewers and fried chicken were both very well received. Fushimi Inari Taisha was quiet as well, and the guests were delighted by the Senbon Torii. I believe they enjoyed the day.

We spent half a day with Kaeko Tanigawa taking us to Daitoku-ji and Kinkaku-ji temples and Nijo castle in Kyoto. She is very nice, customer-oriented and knowledgeable about Japanese culture and history.

Kaeko Tanigawa was fantastic at helping us create a tour that worked for our family with two young children. It was a very hot day, but the air conditioned van was perfect. We loved making ramen together, feeding monkeys, and seeing a few top sites of Kyoto.

Kaeko was absolutely amazing from start to finish, and my husband and I had the best time with her during our honeymoon in Kyoto in April! She reached out well before our trip to get to know our interests and carefully planned an itinerary that was perfectly tailored to us—even helping us choose the perfect lunch spot.
