Over the course of the day the route took in Hotel Kyoto at 9:00, Togetsukyo Bridge at 9:30, 11;00 Kinkaku-ji Temple at 9:30, Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine at 12:50, Sanjusangendo at 13:50 and Hotel Kyoto at 14:40.
What Is a Private 3-Generation Family Day Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were a very pleasant three-generation group visiting from Oceania. At Togetsukyo Bridge, we stayed for about 20 minutes to take photos, and I gave explanations about Horin-ji Temple and Togetsukyo Bridge. At Kinkaku-ji, some of the guests turned back from the entrance and waited in the car. We had planned to visit Kiyomizu-dera after lunch, but it looked like it would take a very long time for the car to get into the parking lot, so with the guests' consent we skipped it. Since we were able to see Fushimi Inari Taisha earlier than expected, thanks to the driver's kindness we visited Sanjusangendo to make up for skipping Kiyomizu-dera. Some of the guests waited in the car, while others went in to see it. It turned out to be better than expected, and they were quite moved. For lunch we had planned to go to a particular restaurant, but since some of the guests were tired and did not seem able to eat much, I took them to a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant instead. They were very pleased and told me it was a "Good choice." Because some of the guests appeared tired, we finished more than 30 minutes early, but with their consent we decided to end the tour there.

Our tour was definitely customized and our guide Harumi was excellent! Leading up to our excursion she involved us in selecting options of things to do. She communicated clearly about meeting point and tips to bring so we would be prepared for the possibility of rain. Harumi was very knowledgeable on the places we visited and we learned a great deal about Japanese customs and traditions. The beginning of our tour we spent time exploring Kitano – cho foreign district. At the Shrine, Harumi shared key information about the gods and demonstrated how make a wish. We had the opportunity to eat lunch at a sushi bar where you order a selection of Japanese foods and experience eating with chopsticks! Motomachi Shopping district was a great place to spend the afternoon after our tour. What a wonderful experience!

My husband and I booked a private tour and car to visit places on the outskirts of Kyoto. Our tour guide, Harumi Sagayama, not only provided a wealth of knowledge about our stops but also about the culture, history and politics of Kyoto. She was also critical on helping us narrow down the choices available to us. Our driver, Suzuki san, provided an impeccably clean, safe and comfortable ride as well. Absolutely delightful all around.

Harumi and Kouzo San were very nice and constantly checked how we were doing.
Our party had one member using a mobility scooter and they made sure she was taken care of and was comfortable all the time. She even played a traditional Japanese game with us in the car before we got dropped off and this completed a most memorable and enjoyable time with them.
