- 8:30 Hotel Meet(Hotel)
- 8:30-9:00 Transfer (chartered car; Hotel → Fushimi Inari Taisha)
- 9:00-9:50 Fushimi Inari visit
- 9:50-10:20 Transfer (chartered car: Fushimi Inari Taisha → Kiyomizu Gojozaka)
- 10:20-11:30 Kiyomizu-dera visit (including Yasaka Pagoda, Koshin-do)
- 11:30-11:45 Transfer (chartered car; Yasaka Pagoda parking lot → Restaurant Takayama @ Rokkaku-dori)
- 11:45-12:30 Lunch (@Takayama)
- 12:30-12:45 Transfer (chartered car; Restaurant → Kennin-ji)
- 12:45-13:20 Kennin-ji visit
- 13:20-14:00 Gion Walk (Hanamikoji, Tatsumi Bridge) (including 15-minute Tea break)
- 14:00-14:30 Transfer (chartered car: Gion → Hotel/Hyatt Regency Kyoto)
- 14:30 Said goodbye in front of the hotel
What Does a Private Kyoto Walking Tour Cover? Fushimi Inari, Kiyomizu-dera, Kenninji, and Gion — A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were visitors from North America. They had planned a trip to Japan some years earlier, but it had been canceled due to the pandemic, and this time they were finally able to make their trip to Japan come true. I took them to Fushimi Inari, Kiyomizu-dera, Kenninji, and Gion. They mentioned that they especially liked the quiet and calm atmosphere of Kenninji. I had not often taken guests to Kenninji before, but since they liked it more than expected, I would like to recommend it more in the future. The peak of the intense heat had passed, so the tour was much easier to conduct, and I believe it was comfortable for the guests as well. Kiyomizu-dera in particular was crowded with students on school excursions.

Our Kyoto guided tour (Aioi Michiharu) was a great way to see some of the city’s most famous sights. The itinerary was well organized, starting with a convenient hotel pickup before visiting Fushimi Inari Taisha. Walking through the thousands of red torii gates was a memorable experience, and our guide shared interesting background about the shrine that added helpful context.
We then explored the Kiyomizu area, including Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Yasaka Pagoda, and Yasaka Koshindo Temple. The route offered a nice mix of historic landmarks, traditional streets, and scenic viewpoints. There was enough time at each stop to take photos and enjoy the surroundings without feeling rushed.
What really made this tour special was our guide’s knowledge, friendliness, and enthusiasm. He provided interesting cultural insights, recommended local foods and hidden photo spots, and made sure everyone in the group was comfortable throughout the day.

Michi our guide was excellent! Great communication before the tour and laid out an entire day for us. Was very accommodating and understood when the heat got to us and needed to take a break. He was very knowledgeable and gave us great pieces of information about the beautiful city of Kyoto. Would highly recommend the tour and Michi!!

Michi was an excellent tour guide! He was very knowledgeable about the history of all the sites we visited, was able to answer all of core questions, and knew where to find cold water when we were all thirsty! We really enjoyed our whole 4 hour tour.
