Title: What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Nijo Castle, and Tenryu-ji

The guests were a group visiting from North America. It was their first time in Japan, but they had studied beforehand and had a great deal of background knowledge. They were even familiar with traditional culture such as ukiyo-e woodblock prints and Noh theater. I took them to Fushimi Inari, Nijo Castle, and Tenryu-ji (including the Hyakka-en garden and the Sogenchi pond). During our visit to the Ninomaru Garden at Nijo Castle, we were caught by sudden rain, so we were unable to climb to the site of the honmaru castle walls and returned to the car. Some of the guests especially enjoyed Fushimi Inari, with one of them particularly liking the fox stone statues. Another was overwhelmed by the magnificent architecture of the Ninomaru Palace at Nijo Castle. One of the guests said the bamboo grove was their favorite.
