Title: What's a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on the Imperial Palace, Arashiyama, Kiyomizu-dera, and Fushimi Inari

This time the guests were a group visiting Japan from Oceania. The advance communication with me (the guide) was handled by one of the guests. It was their second visit to Japan after a long interval, and for their itinerary they chose the Kyoto Imperial Palace, Arashiyama, Kiyomizu-dera, and Fushimi Inari, places they had not been able to fully explore on their previous trip.

On the day (in March), the rain that had fallen intermittently until the day before had cleared, the temperature was not too low, and we were able to enjoy the sightseeing under comfortable weather. All of the guests were very cheerful and friendly, so as a guide I was able to get along with them right away. They all seemed quite familiar with Japan and gave the impression of possessing a considerable amount of knowledge about Japanese history and culture. Because of this, they listened attentively to the explanations at each destination and asked many questions. It was a truly pleasant guiding experience.

Hi, everyone! I’m Norifumi Kamon, a government registered guide interpreter. Please call me “Nori”, or “Kamon-san”.
Let me introdece myself. I was born on April 17th in 1952 in Miyazaki prefecture in Kyushu island. I used to be an English teacher of Osaka Prefectural high school. When I retired from a teacher ten years ago, I decided to get a professional guide license. I wanted to play a role of the bridge between Japanese people and the people from all over the world as a second life of mine. After two years efforts, I finally got the guide license. Since then, I have guided several handreds of foreign people mainly in Kyoto and Nara for about five years except Corona Pandemic period. Almost all the tourists were deeply impressed by the beauty of nature, traditoin, culture, and art of Japan. I can surely help you enjoy and be satisfied with the sightseeing in Japan. And I’m looking forward to seeing you soon.
