What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kiyomizu-dera, Fushimi Inari, and Arashiyama

The guests were a group of six visiting from Oceania and North America. The original plan was Hotel → Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka → Kiyomizu-dera → Fushimi Inari → Sanjusangendo → Nijo Castle → lunch (Kyoto cuisine) → Kinkaku-ji → the Bamboo Grove Path in Arashiyama → Hotel. However, since the guests took a great many photos, we omitted Nijo Castle along the way and also extended the tour time to accommodate them. Everyone truly loved taking photos, and at the Yasaka Pagoda, the stage of Kiyomizu-dera, the Thousand Torii Gates of Fushimi Inari, Kinkaku-ji, and the bamboo grove in Arashiyama, they were very excited and took photos from many different angles — individually, in smaller pairs, and as a group. For lunch, they enjoyed set meals of grilled eel over rice, shabu-shabu, and tempura. Since the final stops of the itinerary were Kinkaku-ji and the Arashiyama bamboo grove, on the way back to the Hotel they seemed to be basking in the satisfaction of having been able to take photos to their heart's content.
