Tour Itinerary
- The original tour start time was from 15:00, but after explaining the visiting hours of the destinations and with the agreement of the customer, we made the start time from 14:00.
- 14:00 Meet at the hotel (Celestine Kyoto)
- 14:00-14:15 Walk (Hotel → Yasaka Pagoda)
- 14:15-14:45 Visit Yasaka Pagoda and Koshin-do
- 14:45-15:00 Walk (Yasaka Pagoda → Kiyomizu-dera)
- 15:00-15:40 Visit Kiyomizu-dera
- 15:40-15:50 Bus (City Bus; Gojozaka → Sanjusangendo-mae)
- 15:50-16:20 Visit Sanjusangendo
- 16:20-16:40 Walk & Train (Keihan Train; Keihan Shichijo → Fushimi Inari)
- 16:40-17:20 Visit Fushimi Inari
- 17:20-17:40 Train (Keihan Train; Fushimi Inari → Gion-Shijo)
- 17:40-18:00 Stroll around Gion
- 18:00 Farewell at the hotel
What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kiyomizu-dera and Sanjusangendo
The tour was originally scheduled to start at 15:00, but after I explained the closing times of the sites, we agreed to begin at 14:00 and started the tour one hour earlier.
The guests were a group visiting from North America. Among the places we visited, they particularly enjoyed the stage of Kiyomizu-dera and Sanjusangendo.
They also asked for advice about where to visit the following day, so I introduced a route of Nijo Castle → Kinkaku-ji → Kyoto Imperial Palace. Since they had also booked a tea ceremony experience, I gave them, for their reference, a written guide (which I had prepared myself) on the etiquette of the tea ceremony (how to receive and drink the tea).
There were no particular issues, and I believe the guests thoroughly enjoyed the tour.

Kyoto temple tour
Our Kyoto guided tour (Aioi Michiharu) was a great way to see some of the city’s most famous sights. The itinerary was well organized, starting with a convenient hotel pickup before visiting Fushimi Inari Taisha. Walking through the thousands of red torii gates was a memorable experience, and our guide shared interesting background about the shrine that added helpful context.
We then explored the Kiyomizu area, including Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Yasaka Pagoda, and Yasaka Koshindo Temple. The route offered a nice mix of historic landmarks, traditional streets, and scenic viewpoints. There was enough time at each stop to take photos and enjoy the surroundings without feeling rushed.
What really made this tour special was our guide’s knowledge, friendliness, and enthusiasm. He provided interesting cultural insights, recommended local foods and hidden photo spots, and made sure everyone in the group was comfortable throughout the day.

Michi our guide was excellent! Great communication before the tour and laid out an entire day for us. Was very accommodating and understood when the heat got to us and needed to take a break. He was very knowledgeable and gave us great pieces of information about the beautiful city of Kyoto. Would highly recommend the tour and Michi!!

Michi was an excellent tour guide! He was very knowledgeable about the history of all the sites we visited, was able to answer all of core questions, and knew where to find cold water when we were all thirsty! We really enjoyed our whole 4 hour tour.
