Tour Itinerary
- 11:00 Meet up @ Hankyu Katsura Station
- 11:12-11:20 Katsura → Arashiyama 200 yen Hankyu
- 11:25-11:40 Sightseeing at Togetsukyo Bridge, etc.
- 11:45-12:25 Lunch @ Yoshiya Oku no Niwa (including prayer time)
- 12:40-13:50 Sightseeing at Tenryu-ji Temple and Bamboo Grove Path
- 14:17-14:50 Saga-Arashiyama → Inari 240 yen JR
- 15:00-16:20 Sightseeing at Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine (including engraving names on chopsticks)
- 16:37-16:46 Fushimi Inari → Gion-Shijo 220 yen Keihan
- 16:50-17:15 Strolling around Pontocho and Gion Shirakawa area
- 17:20 Disband @ in front of Gion Tatsumi Shrine
What Is a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Arashiyama and Fushimi Inari
The guests were a group visiting from the Middle East. Since they were staying in Osaka, we met at Katsura Station on the Hankyu Line. As they could only eat certified food, I had confirmed with them in advance and reserved a set meal at a restaurant that offers appropriate options. When we arrived, one of the guests disliked vegetables but could eat meat, so we added an Omi beef bowl to the order. I felt I should have confirmed the details a little more carefully beforehand.
After that, we visited Tenryu-ji Temple, the Bamboo Grove path, and Fushimi Inari. I received many questions related to religion.

Andy(Atsushi) was great and communicated with us beforehand about our itinerary. He was flexible with changes we requested. Andy was very informative during the tour. He also was willing to take our family’s pictures. We were able to stop and check out shops as we pleased along the way. He also accommodated lunch requests(as our daughter has food allergies).
One thing I wish we realized was that there is quite a bit of walking. We were fine but for people who are perhaps older or with young children you may want to consider taking a cab between different sites.

Andy Murao was an amazing and wonderful tour guide. He reached out to us with some ideas for our private tour. He worked with us as we made the tour perfectly suited to our needs. He met us on time. He navigated the crowds and the sites perfectly. He was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot. He even put together a nice photo collection of photos he emailed us after. Highly recommend.
