- 10:27-10:45 Kyoto Station Front → Kiyomizu-michi 230 yen Bus
- 11:00-12:00 Kiyomizu-dera Temple sightseeing
- 12:30-12:50 Yasaka Shrine sightseeing
- 13:00- 14:00 Gion area stroll, Gion Hanamachi Museum
- 14:10-15:00 Sushiro Kawaramachi Takoyakushi-dori branch, disband after meal
Title: What's a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kiyomizu-dera, Yasaka Shrine, and Gion
The guests were a group visiting from Europe. I had proposed a route covering Kiyomizu-dera, Kodai-ji, and Yasaka Shrine, with lunch at a Japanese restaurant, but since the guests wanted to spend more time sightseeing in Gion rather than on the meal, I dropped Kodai-ji and added a walk around the Gion area. At the Gion Hanamachi (geisha district) museum, the guests also watched a hanamai dance performance. It was my first visit to the Hanamachi museum as well, and with its displays of kimono and decorative items, its beautiful garden, and the chance to go up on the stage, I thought it would be a great facility for visitors interested in maiko and geiko. Afterward, since some of the guests were hungry and wanted to eat sushi, we went to a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant.

Andy(Atsushi) was great and communicated with us beforehand about our itinerary. He was flexible with changes we requested. Andy was very informative during the tour. He also was willing to take our family’s pictures. We were able to stop and check out shops as we pleased along the way. He also accommodated lunch requests(as our daughter has food allergies).
One thing I wish we realized was that there is quite a bit of walking. We were fine but for people who are perhaps older or with young children you may want to consider taking a cab between different sites.

Andy Murao was an amazing and wonderful tour guide. He reached out to us with some ideas for our private tour. He worked with us as we made the tour perfectly suited to our needs. He met us on time.
