What Is a Private One-Day Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kinkaku-ji, Nijo Castle, and Samurai Ninja Museum

From Kyoto Station to Kinkaku-ji, we traveled by JR and bus, taking the travel time into consideration. At Kinkaku-ji, the guests enjoyed the architectural style and the atmosphere evoking the vibrant culture of that era. The guests seemed interested in Japanese history and were particularly fond of Nijo Castle. The explanations about history and architecture seemed a little difficult at times, and there were moments when some of the guests appeared a bit bored during the visit. The guests seemed especially looking forward to the experience at the Samurai Ninja Museum after the tour. From Nijo Castle, we walked to a wagyu ramen restaurant that the guests had wished to visit, and then concluded the tour at the Samurai Ninja Museum. A notable stop on the tour was Nijo Castle. Nijo Castle was built in the early 17th century and served as the Kyoto residence of the Tokugawa shoguns. It is well known for its elegant architecture, decorative screen paintings, and the famous "nightingale floors" that chirp when walked upon, designed to alert residents to intruders. The castle grounds also feature beautiful gardens and are recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, making it one of Kyoto's most significant historical landmarks.
