What Is a Private Afternoon Kyoto Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Fushimi Inari, Shorenin, and Kiyomizu-dera
The guests were visiting Japan for the first time, traveling from Europe and arriving in Kyoto after touring Tokyo and Hakone. In the morning they explored Arashiyama, and we met at Kyoto Station at 1:00 in the afternoon. We first visited Fushimi Inari Taisha, where they were deeply moved by the vermilion buildings and the Senbon Torii (thousand torii gates). At the main hall, they offered their prayers following the custom of two bows, two claps, and one bow. They also received stamps in their own goshuincho (temple/shrine stamp book) and purchased omamori (protective charms). They took many photos and enjoyed themselves greatly. At Shorenin, there were few other visitors, and in the quiet we were able to escape the heat while gazing at the garden and listening to the sound of insects. After that, we made our way to Kiyomizu-dera, and they enjoyed drinking the sacred water at the Otowa Waterfall of Kiyomizu.

We had a wonderful tour around Osaka. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and shared lots of interesting information about the places we visited. He was also very friendly and approachable, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The length of the tour was just right for us—especially on such a hot day—and we still managed to find time to take some great photos.
