What Is a Private Kyoto Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Kinkaku-ji, Gion, and Fushimi Inari
Today I guided a group visiting from Oceania. They were traveling through Tokyo and Hakone, and after Kyoto they were also planning to visit Hiroshima. They were surprised at how crowded Kinkaku-ji was, but Gion was not as busy, so we were able to explore it at a relaxed pace. They mentioned it was a shame that it was not cherry blossom season. Along the way, we took a break at Gion Tsujiri, where they enjoyed some matcha ice cream. After that, we headed to Fushimi Inari Taisha. For some reason, this place also had fewer people than usual, so I was glad they could enjoy it at a leisurely pace. They were delighted to be able to take photos of just themselves at the Senbon Torii. I believe they truly enjoyed the day.

We spent half a day with Kaeko Tanigawa taking us to Daitoku-ji and Kinkaku-ji temples and Nijo castle in Kyoto. She is very nice, customer-oriented and knowledgeable about Japanese culture and history.

Kaeko Tanigawa was fantastic at helping us create a tour that worked for our family with two young children. It was a very hot day, but the air conditioned van was perfect. We loved making ramen together, feeding monkeys, and seeing a few top sites of Kyoto.

Kaeko was absolutely amazing from start to finish, and my husband and I had the best time with her during our honeymoon in Kyoto in April! She reached out well before our trip to get to know our interests and carefully planned an itinerary that was perfectly tailored to us—even helping us choose the perfect lunch spot.
