Title: What Is a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like When Guests Change the Plan? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guest was a visitor from North America who came to Japan for a trip. I had planned to proceed with the schedule the guest had originally agreed to, but it turned out to be a completely different tour.

The original plan was Nanzen-ji → Ginkaku-ji → the Philosopher's Path, but the guest did not have cash on hand and did not want to pay to enter the Sanmon gate or the Hojo, so at Nanzen-ji we walked around the temple grounds, the Aqueduct, and the Keage Incline. The visit to Ginkaku-ji was also cancelled and changed to Heian Shrine, which does not require an entrance fee. Along the way, the guest expressed a wish to go to the zoo, so we took our time exploring the zoo and afterwards I took the guest to Heian Shrine (without entering the garden). It was the first time I had a guest who did not want to pay an entrance fee to enter a temple, and I was a little taken aback. The guest said they especially liked the Aqueduct.

Rather than a tour where I was guiding, it felt more like we were enjoying the zoo together, but since making the guest happy is what matters most, perhaps a tour like this is perfectly fine too.

My name is (Mr.)Michiharu Aioi and I worked at Electronic Manufacturing Company (Panasonic) for more than 40 years in charge of overseas sales.
I learned a lot in these 40 years and now I would like to contribute to the promotion of mutual understanding with foreign countries being involved in tourism busines utilizing my long experience in my previous company. I will do my best to make each trip very fruitful for each foreign visitor.
As for my language ability, in addition to English, I can speak Spanish which I used in my job and I can communicate with Chinese people with intermediate level. Finally It is my great pleasure if my activity could work in the mutual understang with foreign visitors. Thanks a Lot !
