What Is a Private One-Day Walking Tour of Kyoto Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
Today I guided guests visiting from Europe. The temperature did not rise very much and it was cloudy, making it a very convenient day for walking around. When we visited Arashiyama, there were not yet many tourists, so the guests were pleased to be able to stroll leisurely. Since the lunch spot was in Pontocho, we reviewed the evening Gion tour they had joined two days earlier by walking from Pontocho to the Kabuki theater and Hanamikoji, and then headed to Yasui Konpiragu Shrine. We went to Kiyomizu-dera Temple by the usual route, and I felt it was a little less crowded than usual. From Sanjusangendo we headed to Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, where the guests took many photos at the Senbon Torii. I believe they enjoyed themselves.

We spent half a day with Kaeko Tanigawa taking us to Daitoku-ji and Kinkaku-ji temples and Nijo castle in Kyoto. She is very nice, customer-oriented and knowledgeable about Japanese culture and history.

Kaeko Tanigawa was fantastic at helping us create a tour that worked for our family with two young children. It was a very hot day, but the air conditioned van was perfect. We loved making ramen together, feeding monkeys, and seeing a few top sites of Kyoto.

Kaeko was absolutely amazing from start to finish, and my husband and I had the best time with her during our honeymoon in Kyoto in April!
