Over the course of the day the route took in Kobe Port Terminal at 10:00, Ijinkan-gai (Foreign Residences District) at 10:20, Nunobiki Herb Garden at 11:10, Ikuta Shrine at 14:10 and Nankinmachi, Motomachi Shopping Street at 15:45.
Travel between the sites was by public transport: Sannomiya to Nankinmachi South by Free Pass (800JPY). Across 1 sections the fare came to 800JPY per person.
What Is a Private Kobe Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
In the foreign residences district, the guests visited two of the historic Western-style houses and then headed to the Nunobiki Herb Garden, where they enjoyed taking photos. Despite the hot day, they walked down on foot to the mid-point ropeway station. Since they wanted to try local food, we went to an izakaya-style lunch spot near Sannomiya, where they enjoyed sashimi, yakitori, edamame, tempura, and more, and they even treated me. At Ikuta Shrine, we walked all the way around and offered a prayer, and then we went to the Port Tower, but since it would take at least 30 minutes to go up to the top, we decided not to and returned to Nankinmachi by loop bus. We confirmed the location of the shuttle bus, and as the time was up, the tour ended.

Harumi was a fantastic guide – very friendly and very knowledgeable. Even weeks before the tour, her communication was outstanding, asking me what we would be interested in seeing, ages and interests of the members in our party, and laying out a thoughtful and perfect itinerary for our day. Her knowledge made our visit to Himeji Castle way more interesting and engaging than if we had just gone by ourselves. We would definitely book again!

Amazing guided experience
Harumi is an amazing guide. Knows everything about the sites she takes you to. She is excellent with kids and even brought them oregami and treats. The heat was a bit oppressive and we were so glad we paid for the driver with a large and clean air conditioned van. Harumi, the guide, was a true professional. She devised a very good itinerary and was also flexible when the kids were hungry, etc. Would highly recommend.
