What Is a Private Day Tour from Kobe Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, Nunobiki Herb Garden, and Kitano

Today's guests were visitors from Oceania who came to Japan to attend an international academic conference being held in Kobe. Although the tour was originally scheduled for just one participant, the guests contacted me the night before the tour, and it became a tour for the group.

The tour route was arranged at the guests' request, covering the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, the Kobe Nunobiki Herb Garden, a hike to Nunobiki Falls, and the Kitano area. Perhaps because today was a weekday following a three-day holiday weekend, there were few tourists everywhere we visited.

One of the guests, who keeps chickens at home, was very keen on birdwatching during the hike, while another was enthusiastic about taking photographs, so the tour tended to run long. Also, although I thought I had been careful, there were a few small missteps, such as becoming separated from the guests at a curve in the hiking trail (we did, of course, reunite).

Even though there were only a small number of guests, guiding them was surprisingly demanding. It was a tour where it felt almost mysterious that we finished on time. From what I could observe, the guests seemed to have enjoyed themselves reasonably well.
