What's a Private One-Day Kobe Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were a group visiting Japan, and most of them were visiting the country for the first time. After meeting at a hotel in Kobe's Meriken Park, we first visited Kobe Nunobiki Herb Gardens and the Kitano-cho Ijinkan (Foreign Residences) district. At a restaurant in Kitano-cho, the guests enjoyed authentic Kobe beef steak. After this, we went on to Nankinmachi (Chinatown), the Kobe Motomachi shopping street, and Meriken Park, before returning to the hotel to end the tour. We were blessed with fine weather on this day. At the Nunobiki Herb Gardens, the guests enjoyed the scenery and the hammocks. They were also very pleased with the Kobe beef steak experience, saying they could now say they had eaten authentic Kobe beef in Kobe. Overall, I believe it was a successful tour. A notable stop on the tour was the Kitano-cho Ijinkan district. This historic neighborhood in Kobe is famous for its Western-style residences built by foreign merchants and diplomats in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when Kobe became one of Japan's key international ports. Many of these elegant houses are now open to the public, offering visitors a glimpse into Kobe's cosmopolitan past and the blend of Japanese and Western cultures that shaped the city.
