What's a Private Kobe Beef Food Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on a Day in Kobe

Today's guests were a group visiting Japan from North America. The reason the guests came to Kobe was to enjoy authentic Kobe beef in Kobe itself. The guide had made a reservation at a restaurant in advance for this purpose.

On the tour, after meeting at JR Sannomiya Station, we first went to the Kobe Beef Museum, where we learned where and how the cattle that become Kobe beef are raised, the definition of Kobe beef, its certification system, and the secrets to making it delicious. After that, we went to Kobe Harborland (Mosaic), and while taking photos we visited Meriken Park, the Earthquake Memorial Park, Nankinmachi (Chinatown), and the Sannomiya elevated shopping arcade, then spent time at a coffee shop (the main branch) to adjust until dinner. When the appointed time came, we went to the restaurant and concluded the tour. Today's tour involved a lot of walking, but the guests were very pleased.

A notable stop on the tour was Nankinmachi, Kobe's Chinatown. Nankinmachi is one of Japan's most famous Chinatowns, developed by Chinese residents in the late 19th century after the port of Kobe opened to foreign trade. Today it is a lively district filled with colorful gates, Chinese restaurants, and street food stalls, making it a popular spot for both sightseeing and sampling a wide variety of dishes. Its central square and traditional architecture offer visitors a vivid glimpse into the cultural exchange that has long shaped the port city of Kobe.
