Title: What's a Private Kanazawa Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Higashi Chaya and Omicho Market
Despite a light drizzle, the tour was lively as we chatted about the Japanese garden, geisha, and all sorts of topics. The guests enjoyed some alcohol and kept up a cheerful mood, cracking jokes throughout. The guests mentioned they were from Oceania, and they were delighted when I knew that their hometown had a particular history, so we had a great time talking about Australian musicians and Australian films as well, and they even invited me to come visit them. At a sake shop in the Higashi Chaya district, the guests enjoyed sake and beer, and they also had beer at a seafood restaurant in Omicho Market, thoroughly enjoying the atmosphere of the sake brewery and the seafood izakaya. A notable stop on the tour was Omicho Market in Kanazawa. Known as "Kanazawa's Kitchen," Omicho Market has been a bustling marketplace for around 300 years, dating back to the Edo period. It features roughly 170 shops and stalls selling fresh seafood, local vegetables, and regional specialties, and it is especially famous for fresh crab and other seafood from the Sea of Japan. Visitors can enjoy freshly prepared seafood bowls and other local dishes at the many restaurants and eateries within the market.

Hello! I’m Taka, a licensed interpreter-guide based in the Hokuriku region of Japan, including Kanazawa, Toyama, and Fukui.
My specialty is food and local culture, especially Japanese cuisine. I hold a diploma in Edomae sushi (hand-pressed sushi) and enjoy sharing not only the taste but also the craftsmanship, history and stories behind it. I believe that food is one of the best ways to understand Japanese culture and the lifestyle of local people.
I have also lived and worked overseas for 20 years, which helps me understand the interests and expectations of international travelers. I enjoy introducing guests to both famous attractions and lesser-known local experiences that make a trip more memorable.
Whether you are interested in Japanese food and culture or simply want to enjoy a relaxing journey, I will do my best to create a friendly and enjoyable experience tailored to your interests.
I look forward to showing you a unique and relaxing side of Japan.
