Title: What Is a Private Hiroshima Walking Tour Like? A Licensed Guide's Report
The forecast called for intermittent rain today, but fortunately it never turned into heavy rain during the tour.
The guests came down from their hotel room early, so we started a little ahead of the planned 12:00 start time. Since they would be staying in Hiroshima for three days, I introduced the travel pass, and they had already purchased it in advance. Getting off the bus went smoothly.
When I mentioned Andersen (a bakery) inside Hiroshima Station, they said they wanted to buy something at the station, but I let them know we would also visit the main shop on Hondori. At the main shop, they happily selected many items.
Today, the main exhibition area of the Atomic Bomb Museum was so crowded that people were packed shoulder to shoulder across the width of the passage, and we could not see it. We tried again after some time, but the situation made it impossible to get in. Also, the inside of the building was hot and humid, so the guests said they wanted to leave early.
After consulting with the guests, we viewed a different section and then left, and I gave an explanation of the main exhibition in the free area of the building. The guests had read a book about the atomic bomb written by John Hersey just before coming to Hiroshima, so I proceeded while discussing its content and answering their questions. When the explanation was finished, it was 15 minutes before the scheduled end of the tour. The guests wished to return to the starting point after the tour, so when I was about to guide them to the bus stop, we decided to take a taxi and returned to Hiroshima Station by taxi. Since I had explained the newly renovated Hiroshima Station early in the tour, they mentioned they might try going to the movie theater after the tour.

Dear guests,
Hello! My name is Miki. I was born and brought up in Hiroshima. I enjoy traveling around Inland Sea areas and I enjoy chatting with guests from overseas!
In Hiroshima, you can see many beautiful rivers and old bridges. Lately, I often take photos of Hiroshima city including bridges and rivers. There are not many tall buildings here, but I know some places you can visit and see the view for free. By the atomic bomb dome, there is a building called Orizuru(paper crane) Tower. You need to pay to go up to the top floor but you can see the view of Hiroshima city and the Miyajima Island(Itsukushima).
Many tourists from overseas as well as Japan want to visit Miyajima Island. You can see a beautiful shrine from Heian Period which is around 12th century and a huge Torii gate in front of the shrine and it is in the water. There are several ways to visit the island from Hiroshima city. If you are going to stay near JR Hiroshima Station, we will visit the island by JR train and JR ferry. If you are staying in the city area, we can go there by streetcar and ferry, or there is a high-speed boat from Peace Memorial Park pier directly to the island and vise versa.
Hoping to see you in the near future!
Miki

Miyuki was a very knowledgeable, friendly and chatty tour guide. We had a great time and
learnt a lot about the history of Hiroshima. She gave us the option to go to any part of
Hiroshima and met us outside of our hotel!
